I've been trying, but I can't come up with a good lolcats phrase for this photo. Any ideas?

Look, I realize I'm no metrosexual, but I've realized something about shaving that someone else may find helpful. This realization came about because I became interested in the idea of traditional wet shaving. I began wondering, "What could be so fabulous about traditional wet shaving?" "What's the physical difference?" etc.

While traveling, I shaved with a shaving gel instead of a cream, resulting in a better shaving experience. I realized the real difference with the gel is that I lather it on my face, effectively working it into the skin.With cream, I would simply apply it like so much whipped cream on a sundae.

It seems reasonable that the primary difference with wet shaving is that the face is better conditioned for the shave by working the shaving soap in with a brush.

I tested my theory by working the shaving cream into my face for a minute before I began shaving. The shave was far better than normal.

Maybe this is still a far cry from true traditional wet shaving, but spending the extra time is well worth it.

I can't believe I used the word "tweet". I disgust myself.

Download iTunes 8 64bit edition which can be hacked to work in Windows XP 64bit Edition. However, I apparently bricked my iPhone when attempting to update to 2.1.

Update: I could not finish the 2.1 update process using the "hacked" iTunes. I updated on a different machine and I can successfully connect my iPhone to the "hacked" iTunes on Windows XP 64bit.

Update 2: After syncing with the "hacked" iTunes, my iPhone apps stopped working again. Going to try to restore. Ugh.

Update 3: Restore on the other machine worked fine. I think this officially marks the end of my experiments with a "hacked" iTunes.

I was having a problem with my iPhone that made it impossible for me to launch any application that did not come factory installed. After a great deal of trial and error, a few restores, and an egregious amount of whining, I seem to have gotten it all figured out.
My problem seems to be caused by connecting or syncing with one machine which was authorized for my iTunes account and one which was NOT authorized for my iTunes account. Once I authorized the unauthorized machine, I'm again able to launch apps downloaded from the App Store.

On a related note, thanks to Shannon Clark for the tip on deauthorizing dead computers.

For some reason I can't get into using GIMP, so I was very happy to recently find Splashup and the web-based Adobe Photoshop Express, both of which seem to do what I need them to do. I had previously known about Picnik, but it doesn't seem to do everything the other two can do. Thanks, LifeClever

EDIT: Boy, Splashup is buggy. When I copy and paste with only one layer the whole image disappears, cropping when I have multiple layers causes all layers to be misaligned, and I locked up when changing the zoom to 400%. Ugh! Guess I can't uninstall GIMP just yet.

On a related note, I discovered the Brainwashed site while looking for Godspeed You Black Emperor mp3s long ago.

Looking for a song by a band I thought was named Metric, but the samples on their web site do not sound familiar. I thought the song had the word sugar in it. If you know something, get in touch.

I am on a quest to figure out why coffee that I brew at home tastes awful. Often it smells of cat urine, which I have recently realized is not a figment of my imagination (although I blame Cousin Tim completely for originally corrupting my mind with this notion.)

Here are the things I have blamed, and subsequently relinquished of blame...
1. Dirty coffeemaker.
2. Foul tap water.
3. Too much water.
4. Too much coffee.
5. Gold mesh filter.
6. Temperature too high.
7. Temperature not high enough.

Regardless, I am tempted to try what I will dub The Perpetually Wet Linen method.

I keep forgetting to mention that Coudal Partners has finally resurrected Photoshop Tennis, but now they call it Layer Tennis Awesome stuff.

I dig the song Enter by Russian Circles, which of course led me to their web site where I found Death Rides a Horse and Carpe which I do not like as much, but definitely worth a listen.

I recently uncovered an old e-mail where Jason from HealPC introduced me to KJ Sawka, an amazing musician who plays jungle and drum and bass music on a drum kit while queuing up samples and effects--simply amazing. My response to Jason's e-mail was, "I want to have his babies," and I stand by that.

Unrelated, I'm still completely in awe of Lasse Gjertsen, the genius behind Hyperactive and Amateur, two films that use video editing to create music.

An old favorite of mine, explodingdog, came to mind when referred to lefthandedtoons. Which then got me to thinking of another old favorite, get your war on and then I wondered if khaaan was still around. (It is.) And, FENSLERFILM . And who could forget YTMND.

Woxy is back. They've teamed up with LaLa allowing them to remain "on air". Good news.

I was just recently reminded about the kid in the browser scene, Flock I recommend checking it out. Of particular interest to me: it integrates with your Flickr account, allowing you to view and upload photos right inside the browser.

Songbird definitely looks really good. I've only been using it for a few minutes, but it's really good for version 0.2.
